Rules of Magic
Currently listening to Alice Hoffman's Practical Magic Prequel - it's weird
…but I like it
Have you read Rules of Magic by Alice Hoffman? I’m listening to it on Audible, and the writing style is quite, practical. Ha. Not much poetry, but the stepping through moments of small things happening is growing on me.
The characters are revealed over a long time yet I’m starting to like the almost *boringness* of it. Even though it’s about magic, it’s not fantastical at all.
It’s about three teenage siblings who have magic in their bloodline.
The story centers around them either accepting or rejecting this part of them, and the gifts and curses they must bear because of it.
Their world doesn’t feel that rich, but the 70’s feels I’m imagining are keeping me there
As someone who adores the film Practical Magic, I can’t help but feel excited about moving out of this 70’s setting to the 90’s. My mental home.
It’s obvious this post was to try and post a post
You caught me. Substack newbie here. Let’s just try and figure this all out now shall we.
